Designing an Ever-Changing Fossil

Sydney Baxter, School of Design, University of Central Oklahoma, 100 N University Dr

For as long as we have recognized the bones of ancient beings, our image of them has formed and shifted. This paper is a measly sliver of all of the many changes and alterations science has made since dinosaurs first became recognized for what they are. The paleoartists are the creative minds responsible for taking scientific description and giving it substance for the everyday viewer. They are the people responsible for designing the creatures we know as dinosaurs. Those designs have bled into the public consciousness and have warped how we view these beasts of the past. Without them, very few people would have any idea what a dinosaur would look like simply by mentioning the name alone.
